The send-off

Down the close, darkening lanes,穿过狭窄渐暗的小巷

They sang their way士兵们一路歌唱

To the siding-shed, 走向铁轨旁的工棚，

And lined the train with faces grimly gay.坚定而兴奋列队登上火车赴前线。

威尔弗雷德·欧文（1893-1918）英国诗人，1893年3月18日，欧文出生于英格兰什洛普郡的奥斯韦斯特里城，他从小爱好文学诗歌，尤其仰慕浪漫主义诗人济慈（1795-1821）。欧文敏于观察，思想深刻，创作技巧非凡，常用多样的诗段形式和多变的韵律结构塑造简明的意象，传统中蕴含创新。他主要围绕“战争的可悲”这一主题，从自身经历出发创作。
